The museum of the Louvre is one of the most prestigious museums in the world. Located right in the heart of Paris, it proposes rich and varied collections of paintings, sculptures and objects of all the civilizations: Oriental, Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan and Roman antiques, paintings, sculptures, art objects and graphic arts of the Middle Age until 1850, French sculptures, paintings of the schools of the North and the French paintings (until XVIIth century), the art of the Islam...
Fortress at the end of the XIIth century, the buildings of the Louvre dominate the heart of Paris; located in the limits of the city, they were caught up by Paris then contained in its centre. At the same time, the somber fortress of the beginning made its transfer to become a residence modernized by François Ier, then the luxurious palace of Roi Soleil.
The museum of the Louvre proposes cultural and educational activities: conducted tours, workshops and trainings. Courses in rooms invite you to discover or rediscover collections. The Public studio of the museum of the Louvre also proposes every season a programming of conferences, concerts, films, in connection with collections and events of the museum.
The museum and the rooms of 8 departments open every day from 9.00 AM to 6.00 PM, except Tuesday and the next holidays: January 1st, on May 1st, on August 15th and December 25th. Night-till 9:45 pm on Wednesday and Fridays. The museum of the Louvre is free on first Sunday of every month. All the rooms are not permanently opened. An annual calendar clarifies which collections are opened or closed for every day of the week. The access by the Pyramid and by the Gallery of the Carrousel is opened from 9 am till 10 pm, except Tuesday. The entrance by the door of the Lions is accessible from 9 am till 5:30 pm, except Tuesday and Friday.

Permanent collections ticket: 8,50 euros The ticket is valid only for the day, for the museum of the Louvre, except the exposures of the hall Napoleon, and the Eugène-Delacroix museum.
Night ticket: 6 euros (From 6 pm till 9:45 pm) Valid ticket for the night-in the Louvre from Wednesday to Friday, except the exposures of the hall Napoleon.
Coupled ticket: 13 euros The coupled ticket gives access to the permanent collections and to all the temporary exposures of the Louvre and the museum Eugène-Delacroix.
Night coupled ticket: 11 euros (From 6 pm till 9:45 pm) The night coupled ticket gives access to the permanent collections and to all the temporary exposures of the Louvre on Wednesdays and Fridays night.
