East Station in Paris

The East Station is one of the ends of the line railways station in Paris. It is located near the North Station.
Its facade closes the perspective of the North-South axis drilled by the Baron Haussmann, and mainly constituted by the boulevard of Strasbourg. With 34 million travelers a year approximately, it is the fifth station of Paris. Its activity, weakened since the creation of the RER E, should increase with the starting of the TGV East.

At the top of the West pediment, the statue of the sculptor Philippe-Joseph-Henri Lemaire represents the city of Strasbourg, whereas the East pediment carries a statue representing Verdun, work of the sculptor Varenne. It is the vastest station of Paris.

An important reorganization of the East station is in progress and should be finished for the starting of the East TGV in 2007.
