In 1896, the financial Henri Cernuschi bequeathed to Paris Administration his private hotel, just near the Parc Monceau, and his collection from Extreme Orient he acquired during his world tour. The Museum owns a remarkable collection of ancient Chinese art: Neolithic potteries, archaic bronzes, Buddhist statuary, statuettes, as well as a very beautiful collection of the Chinese paintings of the XXth century.
