The Arabic World Institute in Paris proposes exposures, movies projections, meetings and spectacles, as well as activities for young people and a language center. Opened from December 1987, the Museum of the Institute has the mission to present to the public the Arabo-islamic civilization from its origins to our days. The Museum has constituted its collections by welcoming at first objects from French national museums (Louvre, Decorative Arts, African and Oceanic Arts), and some objects from private collections. Moreover, Arab countries, members of the Institute, gave their contribution by sharing their own collections.
