Fashion and Textile Industry Museum

These collections gather at present about 16.000 suits, 35.000 fashion accessories, and 30.000 details of textile industry. On the whole more than 81.000 works which redraw on one hand the evolution of the suit, from the Regency to our days, and on the other hand that the innovation of textile industry from the VIIth century. These collections grow rich regularly with generous donations made by private individuals, creators or manufacturers. They count among the most important in the world together with those of the Galliera museum in Paris, the Tissues of Lyon Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum of London, and those of Metropolitan Museum of New York.
At the side of the historic details, the Fashion and Textile Industry Museum has the peculiarity to preserve capital of big creators such as Paul Poiret, Madeleine Vionnet, Elsa Schiaprelli, and Christian Dior regards to the fashion, and for the textile industry, Raoul Dufy, Sonia Delaunay or the brodeur Rébé, to quote only some examples.
In this tradition of opening towards the innovation, it attempts finally to collect the new forms of contemporary creation.

The Museum is opened :
from Tuesday to Friday : from 11 am till 6 pm
Saturday and Sunday : from 10 am till 6 pm
Closed on Monday

The museum is accessible to handicapped persons by an elevator at 105, rue de Rivoli.
