The national museum of the Middle Ages, is settled in two exceptional Parisian monuments: the Gallo-Roman thermal baths (Ier-IIIe centuries) and the hotel of the abbots of Cluny (end of XVth century). The State founded it in 1843, thanks to the collections of an amateur who liked the Middle Ages, Alexandre Du Sommerard, and who lived in the hotel of Cluny. Enriched during the years, collections offer a unique panorama on the art and the history of the people from the Roman Gaule till the beginning of the XVIth century. They allow, in a unique place, to go through about fifteen centuries of art and history: antiques, Gothic sculptures, paintings, stained glasses, tapestry, tissues, the daily life in the Middle Age.
